Olympic Values Film

Client: International Olympic Committee

Brief: The IOC asked CAN to produce 3 films that showed how their Olympic values mapped onto some of the projects they are involved in away from the games themselves. The primary use of the  films was at the 2007 IOC Congress.

Execution: CAN worked with the IOC to establish the right characters and projects to cover and also what archive footage was available. The structure of the films was set out and the filming elements established. The intention was not to use narration but to have people involved in the projects and IOC members tell the stories through interviews. Filming was carried out in Liberia, Kenya and Switzerland.

Results: A 20 minute film was included as part of IOC’s Olympique magazine (10,000 copies), the issue focused on. A revised version of this film was included as part of President Rogge’s presentation to Congress and a 70 second values film was screened to the world prior to the announcement of the winning city for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The videos continue to be used by the IOC.

"The values video was an enormous hit. It has been, I would say, one of the most successful things we have done today!" Giselle Davies, Director of Communications, IOC
