January: CAN goes to the dogs...and lots of other places
It was a very busy start to 2011 for us with our crews visiting five different countries in January for shoots covering everything from snowboarding to greyhound racing!
We kicked the year off in Lusaka, Namibia making a short film on the Sport for Hope programme which opened Africa’s first sports centre for under-privileged children.
In slightly colder climates we filmed some stars of the future at the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup in Wengen Switzerland and at the FIA Snowboard World Cup in La Molina, Spain.
A bit closer to home was a shoot at Swindon’s Abbey Stadium where we filmed Greyhound racing in 3D! Covering the track with four cameras, the incredible speed of the dogs proved a real but successful test for our 3D rigs.
In Germany we covered three Bundesliga matches in 3D over different weekends. The first of these was the first ever live 3D broadcast of a Bundesliga match.
Back home again in the UK we used the tank at Ocean Optics’ Under Water Studio to test our 3D cameras in marine simulations. The test gave us good experience of setting up our 3D rigs in preparation for a future shoot.
Roll on February!
