Cinema Short
Client: Sky/Film Nova
Date: May 2009
Brief: Produce a 3D cinema short of sprinter Usain Bolt’s historic 150-metre race.
Solution:Steadicam, techno-crane, 150m rail cam and four additional 3D cameras.
Results: We filmed Olympic champion Usain Bolt as he broke the 150m world record during a unique race in the heart of Manchester city centre. Filmed over two days, the resulting short was shown in UK cinemas before screenings of Ice Age 3D.
French Football
Client: Orange France
Date: April 2009
Brief: Film and transmit a live Ligue 1 football match between Lyon and PSG.
Solution: Six 3D camera rigs allowing 360-degree capture
Results: Special screenings took place at Parc des Princes and Stade Gerland, the two teams' home grounds. They were watched by an invited audience, which included supporters of both clubs. The 3D broadcast was the first of its kind in Europe.
Live Opera
Client: Orange France
Date: February 2009
Brief: Produce a live outside broadcast in 3D from the Opera de Rennes in France.
Solution: We employed a four 3Dcamera rigs for capture, with pairs of HD signals encoded using SENSIO.
Results: Working with Orange Labs and AMP on transmission, we broadcast a live 3D signal of the opera Don Giovanni to five cinemas across France. The broadcast received critical acclaim, including a standing ovation from a traditionally hard to please Parisian audience.
TV Programmes
Client: Channel 4
Date: November 2009
Brief: CAN Co-Produced the 3D programmes that included documentaries, light entertainment, studio and live productions, with post production in its high end, Quantel edit suite. CAN suggested using the ColorCode3D viewing experience for existing TV’s and digital displays.

The Queen in 3D
Two 60-minute documentaries about the Queen.
The Derren Brown 3D Magic Show
Performance filmed as live using a three-camera 3D set-up. Filming took place over two days, and included links to camera. CAN also handled all 3D post production.
T4 Live
Studio-based presenter links and interviews shot live as part of this three-hour youth show, which aired on Saturday and Sunday morning during 3D week.
Flesh for Frankenstein and Friday the 13th Part III
Correction and grading to prepare both films for broadcast in stereoscopic 3D.
Brand Generated Content
Client: Virgin F1
Date: February 2010
Brief: Produce a 3D film for screening in Virgin F1’s grand prix hospitality suites
Solution: Three 3D rigs and a portable Polecam to capture multi-angle, close-quarters footage.
Results: We shot more than 6 hours of 3D footage during the F1 pre-season test session at the Jerez race circuit in Spain. This included dynamic action from the track and pit lanes, to be used by the team and its sponsors.
Live Event
Client: General Satellite
Date: April 2010
Brief: Capture and transmit three high-profile performances from a world-renowned theatre in Russia.
Solution: The three shows were diverse in nature, encompassing ballet and performance art. We suggested a scalable solution, giving us the ability to switch quickly between a three and five-camera setup.
Results: We successfully co-ordinated and produced three multi-camera shoots in live 3D from the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. Pictures were transmitted live via General Satellite’s network to specially equipped theatres in Moscow and Paris. These were the first live 3D broadcasts in Russia.
3D Commercial
Client: Courvoisier
Date: March 2009
Brief: Drinks maker Courvoisier was looking for fresh ways to engage the on-trade, which typically means pubs and bars, during the launch of its new range of mixers.
Solution: CAN proposed the use of 3D film as a unique and innovative sales tool.
Results: The resulting films are now being deployed to promote the new mixer range to pubs and clubs using Hyundai 3D plasma screens and Apple’s iTunes in conjunction with the ColorCode3D viewing system.
