Safe Drive Stay Alive
Background
Between 2006-2008, 18,900 people were injured in road traffic collisions in Surrey. 25% of these (4,784) involved young people aged 17-24. 14 drivers and 10 of their passengers died. To combat this, Safe Drive Stay Alive (SDSA) was launched and is now a successful road safety show that aims to educate young people about the consequences of irresponsible driving.
CAN created a new film for the recent season. During the show, the Safe Drive Stay Alive ‘Schools Film’ is the central part of the event and is interspersed with live testimonies. The film has now been shown to over 15,000 school and college students across Surrey.
The Objectives of the Film
- Reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured (KSI) on Surrey roads
- Change attitudes and behaviour towards road safety
- Promote show attendance
Impact of the Film and Campaign
90% of post event respondents said they would recommend the film and show to family and friends.
Client Testimonial
"I would like to place on record my thanks for the professional work carried out by Can Communicate throughout the project.
Your demonstration of commitment to building and maintaining a close working relationship between Surrey Fire & Rescue and yourselves was evident throughout and this culminated in a suite of high quality road safety films.
The feedback from this Service's personnel, our partners and the schools who have attended Safe Drive Stay Alive is very positive and the new films will help improve the road safety education we provide to young people and the public.
